Governance

Governors at St Bernard’s work closely with the Headteacher, the senior team and all the staff. The governing body are expected to:

  • Monitor and evaluate the school improvement plan
  • Work on the strategic planning of the school
  • Develop school policies
  • Attend full governing body meetings
  • Be a link governor to a particular area of the school, meeting with key members of staff from that area reporting their findings at governors meetings

Governors will also attend any relevant training and when needed be part of interviews for certain jobs in the school. Governors are always welcome to attend school events such as productions, parent’s evenings or celebration events.

Being a governor is very rewarding and if you are interested, please contact the school office.

To be a foundation governor, you must be over 18 and a practising Catholic. If we have a vacancy for a parent governor, details will be sent out to the school community.
